Range Cooker

Hopefully the hob should be self-explanatory. Push and turn the knobs, hold for a few seconds and the burner should ignite. To the right is an electric hotplate controlled by knobs on the front. The grill is top left. The small oven at the top right is fan assisted, and two larger ovens beneath that are not fan-assisted so adjust cooking times and temperature accordingly. Turn to your desired temperature, wait for the light to go out, cook!

Tip: say to the Amazon Echo box – Echo, set timer – however many – minutes. At any point say Echo, how much longer to get an update.

Ninja Foodi

This does all sorts and there is a full instruction booklet you can read. Basically it will air fry, roast, slow cook, and a few other things. Turn it on, select the function, set the temperature and time, put in the uncooked food, press Start. Note that a pressure cooker function is available but you need to swap the lid (the pressure cooker lid is in the bottom drawer to the left of the range. Please clean up the internal bowl when done – it will go in the dishwasher on the top shelf. For full instructions follow the link below and select the Downloads tab.

Instructions

Microwave

Select the power, the power level (if not 100%), enter the time, press start! Start on its own, with no other buttons selected will activate the microwave at 100% for 1 minute. Obviously don’t put anything metalic in there, including the cast iron enamel cookware, but all of our stoneware plates, bowls, and mugs are microwave-proof.

Cast Iron Enamel Cookware

You will find both non-stick pots and pans and some cast-iron enamel pots – a casserole, a wide pan, and a skillet. The advantage of these is that you can brown on the stove top and then put the whole pot into the oven. If you are used to using this type of cookware then no problem. If you are new to them there are a few things to be aware of. Use them on a low-medium heat. They retain heat even when off the gas.

The handles get very hot and will give you a severe burn if you attempt to pick it up without protection. Be very careful if there are children around. Always use the oven gloves and pot holders (top drawer) to touch or move a hot pot. You will find some heatproof trivets / mats to the right of the range. When the pots are hot, put them on one of those – don’t put a hot pot straight onto the counter top or the dining table.

They may look a mess when the cooking is done but let them cool a little then soak them in hot soapy water for half an hour and they will clean up easily. Never put them in the dishwasher.

If in any doubt use the non-stick pans but note these won’t go straight into the oven.

Coffee Machine

Make sure it is switched off at the front. Fill the coffee jug with clean water to where you want it. 2 cups are 1 mug. Open the top draw and tip the water into the water tank inside. Put filter coffee into the permanent filter. Close the door. Switch on. It should stay on for at least 30 minutes before automatically switching off. Used coffee grounds should be put in the food composting bin for recyling. Rinse the filter under a warm tap. Gently wipe any remaining grounds out down the sink. Don’t use washing up liquid or you next coffee might have suds.

Food Processor

The food processor is in the cupboard to the right of the range cooker. You will also find a pair of industrial ear defenders, the purpose of which will be clear if you use the food processor.
